Astragalus is popular Chinese herb, often combined with Angelica sinensis for poor circulation, cold conditions and low energy.
It has immune enhancing actions and is useful for chronic infections, chronic fatigue, debility and slow healing wounds. It helps with recovery in cancer patients receiving radiation or chemotherapy.
Astragalus has an affinity with the heart and can be used for mild congestive cardiac failure and high blood pressure.
The Chinese use Astragalus in rice porridge and chicken soups.
